About the Library: Library FAQs

Databases

How do I log into the databases?

To request books from our catalog and log in to databases remotely, you'll need to log in with your library credentials. Enter your library account number, which should be on the back of your student ID (look for a barcode labeled Mondor-Eagen Library and a 14-digit number beginning with "204640...").

Your password will likely be your last name in all capital letters. If your last name is fewer than four letters, add letters from your first name.

For example:
                      Taylor Smith = SMITH
                      Justin Ore = JORE
                      Sarah Ng = SANG

If you have a hyphenated name, or have multiple names, use whichever comes last.

For example:

                      Colin Harris-Murray = MURRAY

                      Caroline Rivera Gomez = GOMEZ

If you have any difficulty logging in or using our online resources, email library@annamaria.edu.

My login isn't working! What do I do?

Email library@annamaria.edu or stop into the library during staffed hours and we can fix it!

Where can I find academic articles?

You can find academic articles and more in the library databases.

Library space

Where is the library located?

The library is located on the lower level of the Information Commons, between Foundress and Cardinal Cushing Halls.

When is the library open?

Click here to view the current library hours!

Is the library a silent zone?

No. We ask that you keep your volume relatively low to respect other people who may be studying, but talking and working together is fine

Can I eat in the library?

You are welcome to bring in food and drink, like a coffee or a snack, as long as you clean up after yourself.

Checking out books

How many books can I check out?

Students, faculty, staff, and alumni are allowed to check out 50 books at a time. For AMC library books, student loan periods are for 28 days with one renewal, staff and faculty loan periods are 90 days with one renewal.

Where can I see what books the library has?

You can search in the library catalog to see our collection of books and e-books.

How do I request a book from another library?

If the book is within the CW Mars network, you can click “Place hold” in the library catalog and the book will be sent to campus for you to pick up. If the book is not within the network, you can fill out an interlibrary loan request.

How can I renew my books?

As long as no one else has a hold on the book, it will automatically renew once. If you need the book for longer than that, please contact the library.

How can I see what items I have checked out?

You can check your account by logging into your library account here.

Does the library charge fines?

Nope! As long as the item is returned to us, you will not be charged. If you borrow an item from another library, they may charge fines, though.

Do you have popular reading/fiction books?

Yes! Check out our popular reading section. You can also request other books from nearby CW Mars libraries.

Library Myths

"I can use Google, I don't need library resources/assistance"

Librarians are research experts and can help you get your work done faster and more efficiently than on your own, even if you're confident in your research skills. Library resources are oftentimes curated to reach certain academic guidelines/requirements, and can make searching for sources easier by limiting the amount of material you have to search through to get what you need.

"If I need help from the library, it means I'm not smart"

Smart students use all of the resources available to do their best work, and the library is one of those resources!
