OER Business Resources

Open Educational Resources (OERs) are teaching and learning materials that you may freely use and reuse at no cost, and without needing to ask permission. Unlike traditional copyrighted resources, OER have been authored or created by an individual or organization that chooses to allow for re-use and adaptation of their work.

Not all free online materials are considered an OER, so make sure to abide by copyright laws when using materials you find online. If a resource doesn't obviously state if it is an OER, err on the side of caution and assume it is not.

Browse the selection below of OER libraries for use in your research:

Open Textbook Library
Textbooks in the Open Textbook Library are considered open because they are free to use and distribute, and are licensed to be freely adapted or changed with proper attribution.
OER Commons Management
Find free and open materials from multiple OER collections including Merlot and OpenStax. Search by education level, material type, media format, and conditions of use.
Merlot Business Portal
Business is one of Merlot's discipline specific Communities. You can search by the ISBN of a current textbook to find related OER materials.
LibreTexts
LibreTexts provides free and open educational materials as defined by UNESCO, "Open Educational Resources (OER) are teaching, learning and research materials in any medium – digital or otherwise – that reside in the public domain or have been released under an open license that permits no-cost access, use, adaptation and redistribution by others with no or limited restrictions." Most of the materials are accessed through the Mindtouch Platform.
OpenStax - Business
Open source textbooks, sponsored by Rice University, are written by professional content developers who are experts in their fields. All textbooks meet standard scope and sequence requirements, making them seamlessly adaptable into existing courses. OpenStax textbooks undergo a rigorous peer review process. You can view the list of contributors when you click on each book.

Using Library Resources

To access our catalog and databases remotely, you'll need to log in with your library credentials. Enter your library account number, which should be on the back of your student ID (look for a barcode labeled Mondor-Eagen Library and a 14-digit number beginning with "204640...").

Your password will likely be your last name in all capital letters. If your last name is fewer than four letters, add letters from your first name.

For example:
Taylor Smith = SMITH
Justin Ore = JORE
Sarah Ng = SANG

If you have a hyphenated name, or have multiple names, use whichever comes last.

For example:

Colin Harris-Murray = MURRAY

Caroline Rivera Gomez = GOMEZ
